No, It's Not A Mirage. It's A Blog Entry.

Obviously I've taken some time off from blogging for the past couple weeks. Which comes as no surprise, seeing as how my blog entries are typically scattershot. I've been busy with some stuff, like being hostess for kick-ass houseguests Change100 and Pauly, playing with all the gadgetry that came with my new IPod, breaking in my new flatscreen monitor by typing up a plethora of addresses and invitations for my high school reunion, and cultivating fruit flies on some rotten citrus and an old pizza box in my kitchen, among other things.

But the biggest reason I've not had time to blog is that I've wanted to spend as much time as possible with my best friend Mr. Jason Spaceman. See, he left on Friday to work for Bluff at the World Series of Poker in Vegas, and he'll be gone for almost two months. And it's not easy sending your husband away for that long (at least he's not going to Iraq for an indefinite amount of time...Thank God.) So during the past couple weeks we really took advantage of the time we had to do things like watch movies and conjugate Latin verbs. It wasn't too terribly sad leaving him at the airport on Friday because I'll be out in Vegas in less than two weeks for the blogger tournament. But leaving him in Vegas will be pretty tough.

We had the best meal experience on our date night last week -- we went to The Melting Pot, which is a super expensive but super amazing fondue place. It's a chain -- see if there's one in your neighborhood! We had a four course meal with champagne. And the food was so yummy! The first course was a cheese fondue with different types of bread and vegetables. The second course was salad - and we chose the fresh mushroom salad YUM. It was just a plate of seasoned mushrooms and a tiny bit of lettuce with an Italian dressing. Then there was the main course: chicken, black tiger shrimp, vegetable raviolis, caribbean pork, filet mignon medallions, teriyaki beef, shoot! I know I'm forgetting some. And there were vegetables, too. The fondue was a burgundy wine buillion with spices. Then came my favorite course - DESSERT! We chose "Yin Yang" from a wide variety of chocolate fondues - it was white and dark chocolate swirled into a yin yang design. The dippin' things were cheesecake, poundcake, brownies, strawberries, bananas, pineapple, crushed oreo covered marshmallows, and toasted coconut covered marshmallows. Oooh, divine! And ya know what? I didn't even get carded for the champagne! I think it's cause we were lookin' all spiffy and I might have looked my age. It was a grand night out, and a great way to send Jason off to Vegas.

Dang it. I'm using so many exclamation marks that my writing is starting to mimic Piers Anthony. Oh wait -- I actually have talent! OHHH!!!! DISSSSSssss.

On the way to drop Jason off at the airport there were scattered thunderstorms, and we saw a beautiful rainbow. I hate trinkets and things with rainbows on them because they're so friggin' gay (literally and figuratively) but I absolutely LOVE real rainbows. When I see a rainbow I get this gushy feeling inside like Mother Nature is telling me that everything's gonna be alright. And it was nice having that affirmation on the way to the airport.

So I mentioned my new IPod. Did I mention it was a gift from my wonderful tournament winning spouse? Yup -- he went to Tunica like a week or so ago and came back $11,000 richer and toting a brand new IPod for me. Isn't that cool??? Yay! I promised him I wouldn't download a ton of songs, that I'll primarily transfer my CD collection over. But I think I'm gonna splurge and get the new Pharrell song "Margarita." 'Cause Pharrell is hot and he busts some dope ass beats. Ummm..... Can you tell I'm a sheltered white girl from the south?

I wonder what Cro-Magnon people thought of rainbows.
